Unlike on Bones, the analog effects on this one were done the newfangled way in After Effects. Reproducing the fundamentally analog/physical process of tape distortion/generation loss in digital form is tough to do correctly, and it’s easy to go down a rabbit hole. At one point I tried to fake deinterlacing artifacts by working at 60fps, offsetting two layers by one frame, and creating “fields” with Venetian Blinds. That experiment did not last long on my old-ass laptop.
